With the expansion and development of the residential houses and industrial concerns in the Cities/Towns of the State of Punjab it has been observed that all along the adjoining areas of these Cities/Town, industries and Abadis are spreading up and each piece of land has thus become a potential site. Consequently the value of these sub urban/ agricultural lands, has considerably appreciated and those are have become potentially sound. Keeping in view, therefore, the present development, these areas cannot now be treated at par with the ordinary agricultural lands. The above decision shall be applicable to the following categories of areas situated around the Cities/Towns:

(i) The areas, which are situated within 1 mile radius beyond the limits of 'A' Class Municipal Committee;

(ii) Areas, which are situated within 1/2 mile radius beyond the limits of the 'B' Class Municipal Committee/Notified Area Committee and Towns having population of not less than 10,000 ; and

(iii) Deleted -vide No. 9/742/4381-92, dated 12th April, 1971.

Where, however, it is considered that the nature and location of the agricultural land is such that it does not fall within the four-corners of the above decision, you may send a proposal to the undersigned through, Settlement Office (U), giving the particulars of the said land, as indicated in the enclosed proforma, and seek approval of the authorities for its allotment.
