Relief for cotton crop damaged on account of pest attack

Sub:     Relief for cotton crop damaged on account of pest attack.

 

  The matter regarding providing relief for cotton crop damaged on account of pest attack has been under consideration for quite time. The Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India vide their letter No.1-1/98-NDM dated 9/12/1998 decided to include pest attack in the list of natural calamity. The matter was considered by State Level Relief Fund Committee in its meeting held on 8/12/2000 , it was decided that relief for cotton crop damaged on account of pest attack be given as per the norms fixed for other agricultural crops.

2. It has accordingly been decided that relief for cotton crop damaged on account of pest attack be given as per the following norms:

Where crop is totally damaged in early stage but area can be resown in the same season, farmers may be allowed relief for seeds, fertilizers etc

Rs 700 per acre

Where crop is totally damaged in early stage but area can not be resown relief may be allowed

Rs 1000 per acre

Relief on account of damage to mature standing / harvested crop at the following rates may be allowed:

(a) Where the loss exceed 75%

(b) Where loss exceeds 50% but does not exceeds 75%

(c) Where the loss exceeds 25% but des not exceed 50%

 

 

 

Rs 2000 per acre

Rs 1000 per acre

 

Rs 70 per acre

 

3.         These instructions will be applicable in respect of damage on or after 8/12/2000.

4.         The relief will be admissible upto maximum of 10 acres per Khatauni or the actual area affected which ever is less. The other terms and conditions for grant of relief and for assessment will be as applicable for agricultural crops and as per instructions issued from time to time.
