Sub:     Release of funds for relief on account of natural calamities- streamlining the working thereof.

The funds for relief on account of natural calamities are released by the Revenue Department on the basis of proposals regarding assessment of damage received from the Deputy Commissioners. There are detailed guidelines for assessing the damage caused on account of natural calamities. It has been observed that proposals received from the Deputy Commissioners are often incomplete as a result of which back references have to be made to them causing unnecessary delay in the grant of relief to the affected persons.

2.         In order to facilitate the Deputy Commissioners in sending a complete and full proof proposal, we have prepared a detailed checklist for all the items of relief. The Deputy Commissioners are requested to ensure that the proposals for relief sent by them are complete in regard to all the points listed in the checklist. It would enable us to release funds without any delay and without any back reference. The forms for submitting the proposals and the certificate to be recorded by the Deputy Commissioners with every proposal are enclosed herewith. The summary of instructions relating to relief is also annexed herewith for ready reference.

3.         It is requested that this letter and annexure may be circulated among the field staff.
